The Wages of Sin versus the Gift of God

In his letter to the Romans, Paul emphasizes the heart of Christianity: the gift of eternal life in Jesus Christ. He illustrates the universality of the dominion of sin over humanity and the access all have to Jesus Christ, the only solution for sin and death. I think the message of the letter, if it could be simplified to a single verse, may be summarized in the following statement from Paul: “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Rom 6.23)
